Intimate, Integrated, International:
Quest University Canada
March 8, 2007
One of the most exciting developments in Squamish today is the opening of Quest University in September 2007. With a new $100 million, 60 acre campus in one of the world’s most breathtaking locations, Quest is the first of its kind in Canada.
A private, not for profit, liberal arts and sciences University, Quest is the dream of former UBC president, Dr. David Strangway, who started by asking: What would happen if you threw out all the rules about what a university should be, and started with a blank page?
You’d choose a single, powerful academic focus. You’d build your campus in a pristine location, surrounded by nature, but close enough to draw energy from the culture of a modern, cosmopolitan city. You’d create innovative curriculum, crossing disciplines and fusing classroom learning with real-life experience. You’d form a global network of some of the most respected academic leaders.
In building a new model university, you’d question everything.
University Heights is the first market housing within the Quest University development, and will complement the emerging campus as a compact, diverse and highly walkable neighbourhood.
As a pioneering model of more sustainable community design in the Sea to Sky corridor, it strives to preserve and enhance existing natural features, promote efficient use of resources and provide a range of housing types that reflect varying incomes, lifestyles and ages.
This design also maximizes availability to the amenities that have made Squamish famous— breathtaking views, forest habitat and recreational opportunities—allowing residents to live ‘close to nature.’
